"The Jewish State" by Theodor Herzl
Zionism classics: Book 1
Norwegian translation: Jon Andersen, 2018
Theodor Herzl's book "The Jewish State" will forever stand as one of the most important books of Zionism's history. This book, published February 14, 1896, was the starting point for the struggle that 52 years later would lead to the creation of a Jewish state in the Jewish historical homeland.
On May 14, 1948, the state of Israel was established in Tel Aviv Museum. Theodor Herzl's portrait hung on the wall behind the delegates. In the declaration of independence, Herzl is called "the spiritual father of the Jewish state." Herzl is the only person mentioned by name in the statement.
